QUESTIONS, QUESTIONS

Elected officials have the power to make community support services accessible to all those in need. Find out where your local candidates stand on the issue, and what they will do to help tackle community support services problems and concerns.

Here are a few things to ask:

  • The number of seniors in Ottawa will double by 2020. Will you support an increase in community support services to meet the needs of this growing group of people and help them stay healthier longer?

  • 80 percent of Canadians polled believed the elderly and dying should be given access to community support services. Do you agree? If so, will you support additional funding to ensure these necessary services are available to those who need them?

  • For many people with disabilities, acquiring and retaining employment is dependent upon community support services. Will you support funding to ensure services are accessible to these individuals so they can remain active in the workforce and the community?

  • Helping people maintain their independence results in lower costs to the community in the long term. Will you support increased funding to enable the province to deliver the required level of community support services?
