QUESTIONS, QUESTIONS

Find out where your local candidates stand on affordable housing and homelessness, and what they will do to help tackle the problem.

Here's what to ask provincial candidates:

  • Will you support an increase in the minimum wage and a return of rent controls to help many working poor afford adequate housing?
  • Do you agree that the Government of Ontario should match funds with the federal government to support more affordable housing? Will you actively support such a move?
  • Will you support an immediate increase to the shelter component of Ontario Works/ODSP?
  • What will your party do to help the City of Ottawa provide affordable housing for those in need?

And here is a question to ask municipal candidates:

  • The CCHRC believes that 25 percent of all new housing units built in Ottawa should be affordable. Will you actively support and promote this percentage for any new development in the City?
